Recently, the unofficial end of the Forge project has been announced.

Tekkit relies on the mods to be Tekkit. These mods are ported over through Forge to be Bukkit compatible. However, for each new Bukkit update over 100 hours of work are required by the Forgecraft team to get Forgebukkit up to date. This could be circumvented if the Bukkit maintainers agreed to work with the Forgebukkit team, but this will not happen in the near future, so that the Forgebukkit Project has been unofficially declared “dead”.

There are discussions on separating Forge completely from Bukkit, but Tekkit servers rely on Bukkit plugins such as Permissions or anti-griefing plugins. It would be quite a challenge to run a server of this size without these tools.

Future of Tekkit

What the Forgebukkit team is planning now is to separate from Bukkit itself and becoming independent, since it is unlikely that Bukkit will ever cooperate with the Forgebukkit team. We will keep you guys updated, as we get more clarification form the Tekkit devs.

What this means for the server

Initially, we planned to do a server reset when the Tekkit updates. Though the Tekkit updates were constantly delayed, due to important mods not being updated etc. This announcement by the Forgebukkit team is probably going to set everything back by weeks again. For this reason, the long anticipated reset will take place over the weekend.

As discussed and voted by the community, the map will reset. This will mean that all the towns and your inventory will disappear. This will solve the “no space to build” issue and will allow for every one to make a clean start once again. Unused machines will be gone and tick rate issues will be gone.

We know that some players will be disappointed to hear that their hard work will be gone, but please take this as an opportunity to make a new start. The reset will give the opportunity for you to start new towns with new players and make new friends. It has been a while since we had a reset (May 2012), which is why we believe that a new map will keep things interesting again.

EE and Buildcraft will still not be on the server even after the server reset. Buildcraft still being BC2 and having the lag issues and EE being unbalanced.

For the precise time of the reset, it will take place between Friday noon to Saturday morning, with 1-2 hours of downtime.

It looks like it is going to appeal to a lot of our players, so we will definitely be hosting a Cube World server for everyone to play in. The game is scheduled to be released in Q1 2012.

Extended Cube World FAQ

Q: When will Cube World be released?
A: I’m currently tuning and fixing everything but I don’t know how long it will take and can’t estimate a release date.Q: How many people are working on this game?
A: I started this as a small hobby project in June 2011. Since May 2012 we are a team of two developers.Q: Can I help with programming, graphics, sound, music etc?
A: Thanks, but I want to do everything by myself.Q: Which platforms are supported?
A: Currently just Windows PC. Mac support is planned in the future.

Q: Which games inspired you?
A:
- Minecraft: Endless random world made up of blocks
- Zelda, Secret of Mana, Landstalker, Monster Hunter and more: Style, gameplay, overall feel
- Diablo, World of Warcraft: RPG elements
- And many more

Q: Which features do you still want to add?
A:
- Player customization: I’m planning to add player customization whith different faces, hair styles etc.
- Classes: I’m planning to add a mage class next and more classes in the future
- Different playable races
- Quests: A variety of different quests
- Items: Different weapons, armor and other items
- Building: Different blueprints and materials
- Weapon/Armor upgrading system
- Different pets

Q: Is there multiplayer support?
A: Yes, you can do everything in the game cooperatively with friends. I can’t say anything about maximum players per server because it still needs to be optimized and tested.

Q: Will you add mining/building/crafting?
A:
- I’m not planning to add mining or digging.
- House building is supported.
- I will probably add a crafting system that allows you to craft weapons and armor from loot dropped by monsters.

Q: How do you create this game?
A: I’ve programmed everything with C++ and DirectX (OpenGL for the first version). For the voxel sprites, I created my own voxel editor.

Q: Will the final game still be called “Cube World”?
A: Probably not. It’s currently just the project name. I’ll have to come up with a new name soon.

Q: Will it be free?
A: No.

A new version of Tekkit has been released. We’re still waiting for the Technic guys to push this out as a recommended build.

There are some quite interesting additions to this version of Tekkit. One of it is probably the Transporter compatibility, which would allows us to connect the PvP server and the Tekkit server through portals. To clarify, you could walk through a portal at spawn and end up in the Tech Wars server.

We may add more servers to take advantage of this, which could be running on a different machine to offload CPU strain, therefore expanding the size of the worlds, while still keeping it relatively lag free.

Tekkit 3.1.2

Tekkit now has support for the Transporter Bukkit plugin patched directly in

We’ve just reached 10,000 registered members! That’s certainly a lot of people and it wouldn’t have happened with the support of your guys and the strength of the community which has formed over the months Techworld started.

Techworld started out as a small private server for a couple friends who wanted to try out Tekkit. Soon though, it went public to allow for more people to join and play Tekkit with the best experience possible, for free! We’re glad to say that this has been achieved and would also like to thank our donors, who made this possible in the first place. Without them, we would not be able to sustain the immense costs of running a server fast enough to simultaneously support nearly 100 players.

Thank you for your continued support and happy Crafting! We’ll be sure to have some more fun events (We already hosted The Walls Map yesterday and the 3rd Hunger Games Map. Sorry to those who couldn’t attend)

It will not have Tekkit installed, however, much of the functions of the Techworld server exist. Instead of Towny we now have Factions. You can found a faction for 500 credits. With your faction, you can ally or declare war on other factions.

The server has:

An economy system

Showcases, enabling you to have a shop

mcMMO – Gather experience, level your treecutting, fishing skills etc.

It is a Medieval Roleplay themed server – so please build your houses accordingly

VIP, VIP+ and Elite ranks will carry over with the same abilities, obviously except for CC access.

Factions can be formed. Wars can be declared. Alliances can be established.

You can join now with your Tekkit 3.0.3 client, or with your Vanilla Minecraft 1.2.5 client. There’s no whitelist with no need to apply, so what are you waiting for?

mc.minecraft-techworld.com:25580

Visit the new homepage for the PvP server.

The server has switched over to a greylist and is testing it. Depending on how it works, we’ll either keep out or lose it.

What is a greylist?
A greylist allows anyone to join the server, but they cannot build or chat. This means that they can explore the server in first-person and make up their mind about wanting to join the server.

If they wish to gain full membership, they will still have to apply, just like with a whitelist. The whitelist application form will merely be renamed to ‘Membership application form’.

Why use a greylist?
We hope this gives new players a better chance to see the server, as many would hesitate to write a long application for a server they have never really been on.

New Players will be ranked Guest and won’t be able to chat or build. They can, however, teleport to other towns and view them.

Will this my gameplay experience?
Furthermore, if the maximum slot limit is reached and a Member joins, a player ranked Guest will be selected randomly and kicked to make space. This means, that players looking around will not affect other players in any way, and server performance will be thus unaffected.

My whitelist application got accepted, but I’m still Guest
Please post below, with the link to your approved application. A staff member will promote you as soon as possible. You unfortunately fell through the cracks of the transition.

It borrows from Minecraft; an ‘Indie’ game created by Mojang, and from The Legend of Zelda by Nintendo.

A: No.
